Churchill found Jews ‘partly to blame’ for woes

LONDON –  Britain’s World War II prime minister Winston Churchill argued that Jews were “partly responsible for the antagonism from which they suffer,” in an article publicized for the first time Sunday.

Churchill made the claim in a 1937 article entitled “How The Jews Can Combat Persecution,” three years before he started leading the country.
He outlined a new wave of anti-Semitism sweeping across Europe and the United States, which was followed by the deaths of millions of Jews in the Holocaust under the German Nazi regime.
“It would be easy to ascribe it to the wickedness of the persecutors, but that does not fit all the facts,” the article read.
“It exists even in lands, like Great Britain and the United States, where Jew and Gentile are equal in the eyes of the law and where large numbers of Jews have found not only asylum, but opportunity.
“These facts must be faced in any analysis of anti-Semitism. They should be pondered especially by the Jews themselves.
“For it may be that, unwittingly, they are inviting persecution – that they have been partly responsible for the antagonism from which they suffer.”
The article adds: “The central fact [that] dominates the relations of Jew and non-Jew is that the Jew is ‘different.’
“He looks different. He thinks differently. He has a different tradition and background. He refuses to be absorbed.”
Elsewhere, Churchill praised Jews as “sober, industrious, law-abiding” and urged Britons to stand up for the race against persecution.
“There is no virtue in a tame acquiescence in evil. To protest against cruelty and wrong, and to strive to end them, is the mark of a man,” he wrote.
The article was discovered by Cambridge University historian Richard Toye in the university’s archive of Churchill’s papers.
At the time, Churchill’s secretary cautioned him it would be “inadvisable” to publish it and the article never saw the light of day.
Churchill was voted the greatest Briton ever in a nationwide poll held by the British Broadcasting Corporation in 2002.

Through a Rapist’s Eyes

This is important information for females of ALL ages ….

A group of rapists and date rapists in prison were interviewed on what they look for in a potential victim and here are some interesting facts:

1) the first thing men look for in a potential victim is hairstyle. They are most likely to go after a woman with a ponytail, bun, braid or other hairstyle that can easily be grabbed. They are also likely to go after a woman with long hair. Women with short hair are not common targets.

2) The second thing men look for is clothing. They will look for women whose clothing is easy to remove quickly. Many of them carry scissors around specifically to cut clothing.

3) They also look for women on their cell phone, searching through their purse, or doing other activities while walking because they are off-guard and can be easily overpowered.

4) Men are most likely to attack & rape in the early morning, between 5:00a.m. And 8:30a.m.

5) The number one place women are abducted from/attacked is grocery store parking lots. Number two: Are office parking lots/garages. Number three: Are public restrooms.

6) The thing about these men is that they are looking to grab a woman and quickly move her to another location where they don’t have to worry about getting caught.

7) Only 2% said they carried weapons because rape carries a 3-5 year sentence but rape with a weapon is 15-20 years.

8) If you put up any kind of a fight at all, they get discouraged because it only takes a minute or two for them to realize that going after you isn’t worth it because it will be time-consuming.

9) These men said they would not pick on women who have umbrellas, or other similar objects that can be used from a distance, in their hands.

Keys are not a deterrent because you have to get really close to the attacker to use them as a weapon. So, the idea is to convince these guys you’re not worth it.

10) Several defense mechanisms he taught us are: If someone is following behind you on a street or in a garage or with you in an elevator or stairwell, look them in the face and ask them a question, like what time is it, or make general small talk: “I can’t believe it is so cold out here,” “we’re in for a bad winter.” Now you’ve seen their face and could identify them in a line-up; you lose appeal as a target.

11) If someone is coming toward you ,hold out your hands in front of you and yell STOP or STAY BACK !Most of the rapists this man talked to said they’d leave a woman alone if she yelled or showed that she would not be afraid to fight back .
Again, they are looking for an EASY target.

12) If you carry pepper spray (this instructor was a huge advocate of it and carries it with him wherever he goes), yell I HAVE PEPPER SPRAY and holding it out will be a deterrent.

13) If someone grabs you, you can’t beat them with strength but you can by outsmarting them. If you are grabbed around the waist from behind, pinch the attacker either under the
arm (between the elbow and armpit) OR in the upper inner thigh VERY VERY HARD.  One woman in a class this guy taught told him she used the underarm pinch on a guy who was trying to date rape her and was so upset she broke through the skin and tore out muscle strands – the guy needed stitches.  Try pinching yourself in those places as hard as you can stand it- it hurts.

14) After the initial hit, always GO for the GROIN….. I know from a particularly unfortunate experience that if you slap a guy’s parts it is extremely painful. You might think that you’ll anger the guy and make him want to hurt you more, but the thing these rapists told our instructor is that they want a woman who will not cause a lot of trouble.   Start causing trouble and he’s out of there.

15) When the guy puts his hands up to you, grab his first two fingers and bend them back as far as possible with as much pressure pushing down on them as possible. The instructor did it to me without using much pressure, and I ended up on my knees and both knuckles cracked audibly.

16) Of course the things we always hear still apply. Always be aware of your surroundings, take someone with you if you can and if you see any odd behavior, don’t dismiss it, and go with your instincts!!!

You may feel a little silly at the time, but you’d feel much worse if the guy really was trouble.

1. Tip fromTae Kwon Do: The elbow is the strongest point on your body.  If you are close enough to use it, do!

2. Learned this from a tourist guide in New Orleans. If a robber asks for your wallet and/or purse, DO NOT HAND IT TO HIM. Toss it away from you….chances are that he is more interested in your wallet and/or purse than you, and he will go for the wallet/purse. RUN LIKE MAD IN THE OTHER DIRECTION!

3. If you are ever thrown into the trunk of a car, kick out the back tail lights and stick your arm out the hole and start waving like crazy. The driver won’t see you, but everybody else will. This has saved lives.

4.Women have a tendency to get into their cars after shopping, eating, working, etc., and just sit (doing their checkbook, or making a list, etc.) DON’T DO THIS! The predator will be watching you, and this is the perfect opportunity for him to get in on the passenger side, put a gun to your head, and tell you where to go. AS SOON AS YOU GET INTO YOUR CAR, LOCK THE DOORS AND LEAVE.

a. If someone is in the car with a gun to your head

DO NOT DRIVE

OFF, repeat:

DO NOT DRIVE

OFF! Instead gun the engine and speed into anything, wrecking the car. Your Air Bag will save you. If the person is in the back seat they will get the worst of it. As soon as the car crashes bail out and run. It is better than having them find your body in a remote location.

5. a few notes about getting into your car in a parking lot or parking garage:

A.)Be aware: look around you
look into your car, at the passenger side floor, and in the back seat.

B.) If you are parked next to a big van, enter your car from the passenger door.  Most serial killers attack their victims by pulling them into their vans while the women are attempting to get into their cars.

C.)Look at the car parked on the driver’s side of your vehicle, and the passenger side. If a male is sitting alone in the seat nearest your car, you may want to walk back into the mall, or work, and get a guard/policeman to walk you back out.

IT IS ALWAYS BETTER TO BE SAFE THAN SORRY. (And better paranoid than dead.)

6. ALWAYS take the elevator instead of the stairs. (Stairwells are horrible places to be alone and the perfect crime spot. This is especially true at NIGHT!)

7. if the predator has a gun and you are not under his control, ALWAYS RUN! The predator will only hit you (a running target) 4 in 100 times.  And even then, it most likely WILL NOT be a vital organ. RUN, preferably in a zigzag pattern!

8. As women, we are always trying to be sympathetic: STOP! It may get you raped or killed. Ted Bundy, the serial killer, was a good-looking, well-educated man, who ALWAYS played on the sympathies of unsuspecting women He walked with a cane, or a limp, and often asked “for help” into his vehicle or with his vehicle, which is when he abducted his next victim.

9. Another Safety Point: Someone just told me that her friend heard a crying baby on her porch the night before last and she called the police because it was late and she thought it was weird. The police told her” Whatever you do, DO NOT open the door.”
The lady then said that it sounded like the baby had crawled near a window, and she was worried that it would crawl to the street and get run over. The policeman said, “We already have a unit on the way, whatever you do, DO NOT open the door.” He told her that they think a serial killer has a baby’s cry recorded and uses it to coax women out of their homes thinking that someone dropped off a baby. He said they have not verified it, but have had several calls by women saying that they hear baby’s cries outside their doors when they’re home alone at night.

Please pass this on and DO NOT open the door for a crying baby —-This should be taken seriously because the Crying Baby theory was mentioned on America’s Most Wanted this past Saturday when they profiled the serial killer in Louisiana I’d like you to forward this to all the women you know. It may save a life. A candle is not dimmed by lighting another candle. I was going to send this to the ladies only, but guys, if you love your mothers, wives, sisters, daughters, etc., you may want to pass it onto them, as well.

Za7ma ya donia Za7ma

“Za7ma ya donia Za7ma” is an Egyptian folk song, I don’t know who is the singer and I am not really interested to know. Whoever he was, he was absolutely right when he sang this song. The song crossed my mind today, when I was in the car….thank God I was not driving, I would have committed a crime. For those who have never been to Egypt, it is really crowded everywhere especially in the rush hour and in the morning where most people go to their work and students to their schools or universities.

Actually, what is really ironic if you found the way to downtown not crowded, you wonder what is going on …there must be something wrong !!.Since I live in Cairo from a long time I am used to traffic jam, however sometimes you just can’t stand it anymore and you feel you want to go home and relax. Cars are everywhere you go, there is no place to walk …people who want to walk can go to the track in clubs or walk on a treadmill in gym.

The average middle class or high class family has more than one to two cars. And sometimes more, which after like 10 years or maybe less it will be a disaster especially in small cities like “Aleppo” in Syria which become too crowded with cars and very narrow roads. Though one cannot compare between Egypt and Syria because of the number of population, however in Syria it is much better. What I like about Syrian traffic is the electric traffic light, where you count the numbers from downwards to upwards then you move with your car, I know it sounds weird, but I like it!!!

Cars are no longer a luxury thing to obtain, it is a necessity in life, and espically if you live in a big city, and public transportations in Egypt are awful, you can’t take a bus or train ….it is too crowded, and not very good. What I really like about Europe, is people there can live without a car because they have good means of transportations like undergrounds which I like or good buses, and people are civilized in a way that no one can bother you…Etc.

While I was in the car I remembered the movie “back to the future” 1985.Where there was this scene for the car that Doc brown invented, it can go back in time and to the future ….the scene was for cars moving in the sky. Well maybe in the future it will be possible to invent such a car that can move in space, and thus we avoid traffic jam …well maybe I am imagining, but everything is possible these days with all the sophisticated and new technology.

Heaven, where is it? How do we get there?

That was the heading of a program I was watching on mbc4 for the American prominent anchor Barbra Walters, I was very excited watching it, since I like those kinds of shows I was concentrating and enjoying.  She was discussing the concept of heaven in different religions, and what people believe and think.

She has interviewed different personalities, for instance Richard gere, Tibetan Buddhists, Cardinals, Muslim leaders, evangelicals, would-be suicide bomber, atheists and people who felt they had died and gone to heaven.

There is no doubt that all of us had thought of heaven at some point, and we all wish to be there. Moreover, according to some religions, its followers will be saved and the non-believers will go to hell. However, the concept of heaven and life is different    from a religion to another.

According to Christianity heaven is being with the lord in his kingdom, however to Muslims heaven is enjoying the forbidden pleasures that were on earth, in addition to practicing  everything that was on earth, but no wars or killing” There r other things concerning heaven in Islam, but I don’t want to discuss them in this piece of writing”.

The Buddhists do not believe in heaven; however they believe that life is the road to nirvana. Walters interviewed Dalai Lama, the spiritual leader of the Tibetan people; he is really a very nice, humble and funny man. She asked him if he was a God, he laughed and said of course not.

The show was interesting, until she had interviewed the would-be suicide bomber about heaven. I still don’t get it why would she interview a suicide bomber about heaven….she just asked some non-sense questions about heaven including the 70-72 women God promises to give to men in heaven” 7or 3en”!!! I was really pissed off…. What about jihad? He added I wanted to kill Jews…..what this has to do with heaven….Just showing how bad Muslims are and cruel….trying to kill the innocent Jews!!

She didn’t mention any true reason behind why suicide bombers blow themselves up

The picture to audience was that this suicide bomber wanted to go to heaven to marry the “7or 3en”.She even asked him will I go to hell? He said yes because you’re not Muslim. I couldn’t believe how bias she is ….

She had also interviewed an Islamic scholar, I searched for his name “Faisal Abdul Rauf….which I found not very helpful, I can’t recall what he said, but she asked him if she will go to hell. He said he doesn’t know or you can’t say someone in particular is going to hell, only God’s knows. I was expecting things like what a Muslim can do in his life to reach heaven, like praying, fasting…etc. However none of these things were mentioned.

I can’t deny that the show was interesting and helpful to get to know other religions, however Walters was bias when it comes to Islam. I do really believe that there is vicious attack on Islam in the western Media especially the American, since the attack of 11th September, which I suppose was the scenario for invading Iraq.

Finally, heaven to nearly all religions is a place where you are happy with the people u love.

My little Nino

With her sweet and innocent face she came and asked me, I want to have an e-mail!!

She is my little sister Nesreen, I was a little bit surprised not for a reason, but why would a 9 years-old child have an e-mail. I remember when I was her age; I used to play with friends, toys and read Mickey’s stories……etc. Oh I forgot we are in the 21st century, were children spend their time playing with  play station, games on the computer and watching TV that will almost destroy their little minds.

She told me, my friend has an e-mail and I want to chat with her! My reaction was, I’ll say that in Arabic “lsa ma f2sty mn el beda wo bedak t3mly chat” sorry cannot translate that. She used to see me using my computer, and learned some easy things about computers at school, but she doesn’t know how other things work.

What happened let me wonder will I let my children use computers at an early age?  I see very small kids age 5 or 6 using computers and playing games, which is okay. However, using the internet I might be a little bit concerned, and parents should always check on their children when using the internet. I might check on my son or I will check who my daughter is chatting with, so that she doesn’t chat with some ba****, liars..!!(Hmmmm)

Back to my sister, I let her use my messenger she was very happy with all those small emoticons and winks. And spend the time, showing her how to use some easy things. However, learning basic things about computers is necessary for everyone, I believe in the up coming years everything will be related to computers” hopefully in Arab countries!!” Even studying at school, kids can bring their laptops instead of books and notebooks “who knows what might happen” it will be much easier instead of holding theirs heavy bags.

So definitely I will let my children use computers at an early age, who knows maybe my son will be the next Bill Gates!!

Che Guevara

Recently, there has been a tremendous increase in the using of Che Guevara images on many things for instance, T-shirts, Mugs and used the name on coffee shops. However, who is Che-Guevara? And why he grabbed the attention of most people, especially youth.

“I am not a liberator. Liberators do not exist, the people liberate themselves” by his words, and actions Ernesto iRafael Guevara de la serna became an icon of Revolution and Liberation. Ernesto Guevara, who was later given “Che” as a nickname while he was studying ,and it means “friend” in south America, not only became a myth in his own life time ,and an international martyr-figure upon his death, but also he was a revolutionary fighter, a military strategist, a social philosopher ,an economist and a doctor.

Raised into a Middle-class family of Spanish and Irish descent, Che was born on My 14, 1928 in a city called Rosario in Argentina; he was the eldest of five children. His early diagnosed with chronic asthma was behind his decision to study medicine to find a cure for his own asthma condition. Guevara’s life has changed after the journey he made with his friend Alberto Cranado on his 1939 Norton 500 CC motorcycle, around South America. He witnessed the poverty, oppression and powerlessness of the people, and a revolution from his perspective was the only solution for Latin America’s economic and social inequities

After his graduation from the university of Buenos Aires medical school in 1953, Che moved to Guatemala where its president Jacobo Arbenz headed a populist government that through various reforms to bring about a social revolution. However, in 1954 the CIA overthrows the Arbenz government. At    this point Che viewed the United States as an imperialist power, and he became more convinced that socialism was the only solution. He wrote in a letter to home:” Along the way, I had the opportunity to pass through the dominions of the united fruit, convincing me once again of just how terrible these capitalist octopuses are. I have sworn before a picture of the old and mourned comrade Stalin that I won’t rest until I see these capitalist octopuses annihilated”

Guevara met Fidel Castro in Mexico City who was exiled from Cuba; Castro was preparing an expeditionary force to overthrow Cuba’s president Fulgencio Batista. In 1956 they loaded 38-feet long motor yacht cranma full of guerrillas and weapons, and sailed to Cuba, landing near Cabo Cruz on December 2. However, it failed and the remaining rebels fled to into the mountains of the sierra Maestra, where they slowly grew in strength, seizing weapons and wining support from peasants in rural areas and intellectuals and workers in urban areas.

After their success in entering the capital of Havana, Che was declared a Cuban citizen by birth, and divorced his Peruvian wife, Hilda Cadea, with whom he had one daughter and married Aleida March which was a member of Castro’s Army. From 1961 to 1965 Guevara was minister or industries and director of the national bank, however he was interested more in testing his revolutionary theories, and as a result he resigned from his post as a politician and wrote a book about Guerrilla Warfare.

In 1966 Che led a Guerrilla war in Bolivia, and he had stressed that the Guerrilla fighter needs full help and support from the people of the area. However, luck was not by his side and he was surrounded near Vallegrande by American-trained Bolivian troops. Che was a brave man he once said” The decisive moment in a man’s life is when he decides to confront death. If he confronts it, he will be a hero whether he succeeds or not. He can be a good or bad politican, but if he does not confront death he will never be more than a politician”.

He was captures and was shot in a school house in La Higuera on October9, 1967.His last words were” Shoot, coward you are only going to kill a man.”

No Title!

I do not know how to start writing this; it is like all the ideas and memories are stuck and mixed up in my mind. Every time I hear about someone passed away, I recall all the incidents of people I know passed away in many different ways. I just remind myself that we worth nothing in this life. Sometimes some “people” live in this world as if they are immortal, and they just forget that one day they will die. Yeah it is a fact no one on this earth can deny it.

Watching small kids and citizens slaughtered in a very cruel way in wars while we are watching and hopeless, it makes me sick. Hearing every day thousands of people die in a bomb explosion in Iraq or found headless, sometimes my mind just refuses to believe what I am watching.

I have always wondered what is going on in this world. Why people are acting like this? Why people are so mean to each other? I have heard so many stories about people who have not spoken with their relatives or family members for ages for a simple dispute or any two had a fight and they stopped talking with each other. What if it was too late and you did not have the chance to say sorry or that you care about them, I guess many people their dignity prevent them from apologizing.

Life is too short; we all have heard and read this sentence in movies or books. However, have you ever thought about it? Today you are alive, the next day you might not, and it happened to many people. People who had dreams, hopes and looking forward for a better future, however in less than a few seconds everything can end.

The reason I mentioned this, is that one of my sister’s friend had just passed away in a Car accident, a few seconds after she had paid her fees for the new semester. I was in shock …just could not say a word or even think my mind just stopped!

Flashback, remembering everyone I know had passed away or even sad stories I heard about people. One of the stories that really had its influence on me, a girl I know had a love story with a person who became her husband later; unfortunately, he also passed away in a car accident. However, the way she was talking about him made me feel that life is not fair even though its God will, however you cannot stop yourself from asking these questions.

Death has always been something mysterious to all people because no one had experience it, even though religious books had mentioned things about death, but still no one knows what happens. We all feel comfort when we know that one day by God’s will we shall meet those who we love and miss in heaven.

I am sorry if reading this piece of writing will bring some sad memories to some, but hearing such stories should remind us that life is too short and nothing in this life is worth to fight for or hate.

A day off!

Can you resist not switching on your pc for a whole day? Well, I myself can’t,unless I am not at home or doing something really important. Last week I woke up bothered from the sunrays that entered my room, opened my eyes and can barely see anything ,a few moments later the sight is getting clear, yeah I can see clearly now. It’s my lovely pc in front of me; I kept staring at it a few seconds, sometimes when you wake up, you had this stupid look on your face, as if you’re thinking of something. Then suddenly I decided to take the day off and not switch on my pc, yeah not an easy decision to resist not opening your pc or checking your e-mail as if you’re waiting an email to tell you the war on Iraq or Palestine is over!!

To be honest, I really do spend a lot of time surfing the net or sometimes I chat with my friends and relatives, I guess it became a habit for me. A lot of people talked about those who become addicted to the internet or using their pc, but I found the whole thing is much more deeper, it is this closeness with your pc its like all your mind and stuff is in it, you can reach all your friends who live abroad, spend time listening or downloading your favorite music, and doing some work for university or for your job.

What an amazing invention! I had an opportunity to get to know some people from the internet, some were good and others were not, but it was quite a good experience to get to know so many people with different personalities and mentalities different than you, especially for me since that I didn’t live in my homeland “Syria” so I really didn’t have the chance to get to know so many people other than relatives.

Anyway back to the track, after deciding not to switch on my pc, I picked up a book I bought recently and started to read, even though I don’t like reading a lot unless something really grabbed my attention, but I do really like reading on the internet. For the first few moments, things were good I was enjoying what I was reading. After a while, I was bored and decided to do something else.

Through out a whole day, I had the chance to do so many things, went out to buy some stuff, watched TV and spend sometime with my parents. However, at the end of the day I couldn’t resist it anymore, so I switched on my pc, put on the music I love and started checking the usual things I do. It was a challenge for me, and I failed or didn’t bother myself not to do things I enjoy.

I wonder what if there was no internet, what our life would be

!!!

The end of the beginning

The light was too strong that I couldn’t see the people in front of me , my eyes kept searching for my family to smile to them and to take some pictures for me” their daughter”. Sitting decently wearing my cap and gown, it feels like you are receiving a certificate of PhD, listening to the doctors giving some speeches about the university and students. In my mind I was just thinking it is just the end of the beginning, yeah!

I finished university, yet it is nothing compared to the real world where you get to meet the real people and learn how to deal with them, it is no longer your nice friends, teachers. Moving from one stage to another in life is a necessary process towards more development, and indeed every one likes to move towards the better in life.

Nowadays looking for a good job is not only the problem of males in the society, but also females, too much people with high quality standard of education create an outstanding competition among those who want to work.

University degree is not enough; to compete with others you must have masters or PhD and work experience which is the most important thing any company asks for.

Moreover, the more you have a high degree of education and work experience the more your salary increase, thus completing your education is considered a must for a better opportunity of a good job.

On the other hand, new graduates who work, and due to the lack of experience take very low salaries, that can barely be enough to buy food, hang out with friends or   spend it on transportation; as a result most new graduates rely on their parents in the issue of money. Although, a lot of people especially guys do not find it a problem to find a job, because most are working in their parents companies or their own business

So studying was not an achievement, it is only for the sake, not be called ignorant or uneducated in the society.

Finally, I heard calling my name, I stood up greeted my family and walked on the red carpet, it was pretty cool I felt like walking on the red carpet in Oscar ceremony!

I received my certificate ,and hand shake with the doctors then back to my seat full of happiness that I graduated ,and was ready for the after graduation party.
